Scholars' Programs
EERC offers several exciting fellowship opportunities that provide unparalleled experiences in global agricultural, economic, environmental, and development research. Our fellowship program provides unique opportunities for several researchers to work and collaborate with EERC staff and technical partners to develop and implement joint research in line with EERC research priorities.
Based on available funding and ongoing projects, EERC invites interested researchers to submit an application involving a research proposal to be implemented within a 6 – 12-month fellowship program. Selections are made competitively and involve a three-stage process of shortlisting, interviewing, and award of fellowships. During this period, the selected will be paired with an experienced researcher in EERC or its network researchers drawn from neighboring academic institutions to facilitate effective mentoring and successful completion of the fellowship programs. As a result, EERC will be responsible for accommodation, living allowance, and research costs for the selected fellows. Suppose an experienced researcher is selected as a fellow. In that case, the selected fellow will work directly under the supervision of the Director of Research and Project. At the same time, they provide mentoring support to young researchers, interns, and volunteers in EERC. Also, EERC will pay all costs, including research and living allowance.

EERC is committed to the professional development of postgraduate students and recent graduates, and our internship program is designed to provide tomorrow’s professionals with an opportunity to gain valuable experience and contribute to our mission. The internship program seeks to develop young professionals interested in working in a non-profit organization while positioning EERC as the employer of choice for recent graduates by building relationships and maintaining a strong presence on college campuses. Our interns benefit from a dynamic learning environment to develop skills for future job placement and build relationships with professionals in their areas of interest.
EERC currently has an agreement with the Centre for Excellence in Agriculture Development and Environmental Sustainability (CEADESE), a World Bank postgraduate-sponsored program in FUNAAB. Through this partnership, EERC hosts relevant interns working on related research. The EERC internship program lasts between three and six months. During this period, EERC provides stipends for the interns while CEADESE covers their research costs. To learn more about available internships at EERC, visit the Join Us tab on our website.
Volunteer
EERC believes in mentoring young people (fresh graduates) and or selfless service individuals by leveraging the contributions of our experienced researchers. We welcome spontaneous applications for volunteer services from fresh graduates, as well as contributions of professionals to our ongoing programs. EERC provides stipends for volunteers based on available funds and projects. Interested candidates are encouraged to kindly forward unsolicited signed applications (including curriculum vitae and cover letter) to the Executive Director, detailing your interest in working with EERC. Submitted applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and only applicants whose profile aligns with the current activity within the organization will be contacted.
As part of efforts to instill research in fresh graduates, EERC has an agreement with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to take and mentor interested fresh graduates whose discipline falls within the EERC research priorities. Through this partnership, EERC is building the capacity of fresh youths in climate-smart agriculture, carbon markets, agricultural research, etc.
To ensure that volunteers receive relevant training during their stay at EERC, each selected volunteer will be assessed to understand their capacity and identify training needs. Each volunteer will be paired with experienced staff who will ensure that the relevant training is provided to volunteers on time.
