Policy Support for Economic Growth (PSEG) Activity

The Policy Support for Economic Growth (PSEG) Activity is a five-year USAID-funded activity led by Michigan State University (MSU) in collaboration with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), alongside the Environmental and Economic Resource Center (EERC) and the Nigeria Economic Summit Group Policy Innovation Center (NESG–PIC). PSEG seeks to strengthen the capacity of government institutions, private sector actors, research institutions, and civil society organizations (CSOs) to conduct evidence-based research to inform policies to drive agriculture-led economic growth. The activity has a national coverage focusing on Feed the Future priority states: Kaduna, Kano, Nasarawa, Plateau, Sokoto, and Zamfara. PSEG aims to create an enhanced enabling environment conducive to inclusive and sustainable agriculture-led economic growth, stimulate private sector investment in agriculture, improve food security, and alleviate poverty.

EERC’s role include conducting research in several key areas, including: developing effective strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change; providing evidence-based research to inform policy decisions; value chain assessment research; enhancing agricultural productivity; and promoting sustainable food systems. Additionally, EERC will offer policy support at both the state and federal levels, providing support to MSU and IFPRI in training and capacity-building activities for stakeholders to formulate and implement evidence-based policies.
